A relaxed environment for learning something new and getting outdoors with other nature enthusiasts. We'll meet to chat about what we've read and (weather permitting) go for a walk.
Spend time with nature, observing the world around us. Each Nature Journal Club meetup will include group exercises and lessons led by a GPNC Naturalist, followed by on-your-own journaling time. Bring your own sketchbook and drawing instruments.
Take a walk in the park with our resident mushroom nerd, Lyndzee Rhine, as she combs the woods for fungus. All are welcome to join her as she scours the parks of Wichita. FREE. Dates vary and are subject to change.
Learn more about nature and photography and participate in group photo-critiques, field trips across Wichita and Kansas, member-only gallery exhibitions, and more in an encouraging, positive environment.
Wichita Audubon Society
Free public programs organized by the Wichita Audubon Society.
From September to May Wichita Audubon Society hosts monthly programs on the third Tuesday, 7 pm at the Great Plains Nature Center. They feature a variety of nature topics that inform us and expand our horizons. All are free and open to everyone.
Fly Tying Workshops
Free public workshops organized by the Flatland Fly Fishers
Flatland Fly Fishers will provide the fly-tying vices, plus all of the tools and material needed for you to start tying your own flies. If you have tied flies in the past and have your own equipment, bring it with you.
These free workshops are open to anyone who wants to come out and tie flies or just talk about fly fishing.
