Do you enjoy walking, running, and meandering the trails of Chisholm Creek Park? Then join the Friends of the Great Plains Nature Center for our 2024 Walk for the Wild 5K Challenge this October 12th through 19th!

By moving a distance of 5K (or 3.1 miles) you can explore the wildlife oasis that is Chisholm Creek Park. This is a self-guided challenge where you can follow the signs placed along the trail until you meet your distance goal. They will also educate you on how the Great Plains Nature Center benefits the community! Register at the link provided! Walk for the Wild is an annual event that takes place on National Wildlife Refuge week and is celebrated at refuges all over the country. While the GPNC is not a refuge, we do have a partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service who help to manage National Wildlife Refuges.

Donations are optional but welcome regardless of completing the 5K challenge! 100% of your donation through the link provided will come back to the Friends Great Plains Nature Center- plus an additional percentage match through an amplifier fund. These funds support the Friends, who in 2023 helped educate approximately 40,000 people in our community through free nature education and provided wonderful care to our 26 ambassador animals.
