Chisholm Creek Park

A Wichita Wild Habitat Area

Chisholm Creek Park is one of the largest parks in Wichita. Its features represent the major habitat types in the Great Plains. Managed by Wichita Park & Recreation as a Wichita Wild Habitat Area to optimize the diversity and quality of the habitat, it complements the educational mission of the GPNC.

In its 282 acres are 2 1/2 miles of paved trails that cross native and restored prairies, wetlands, ponds, and woodlands.

Park Regulations

In order to preserve the natural features of the area, certain regulations are in place. Please respect the park and keep it a good home for wildlife in Wichita. The following actions and items are prohibited:

  • Pets, bicycles, skateboards, motorized vehicles, rollerblades

Bikes and dogs must stay on the bicycle path that goes around the outside of the park. There is a convenient entrance to this path off Oliver St.

  • Harassment, capture, or feeding of animals

  • Collection of plants, seeds, or flowers

This protects resources for wildlife and guarantees a healthy reservoir of seeds for next year's crop of wildflowers.
